Venturing Rendezvous 2004

Black powder, Leave-No-Trace, Rock climbing, Lightweight backpacking, GPS, Shotgun shooting, Archery, and Scuba diving were a few of the activities that over 70 Venturers enjoyed this year at our annual Venture Rendezvous. Venturers from around the county joined their peers at our local Boy Scout camp, Mataguay. Everybody seemed to enjoy him or herself greatly, but our job as Venturers is to try and improve everything, as we WILL do at next year's event. So what might you see next year? There were many ideas that were tossed in the air including mountain biking, cooking, fly fishing, and capture the flag on the Friday night of the event. One can also expect to get some sign-offs for their Ranger award that we are all working so diligently on. If all goes well, we will try to arrange pistol shooting and Halloween costume and pumpkin carving contests since the event will be closer to Halloween.

I would like to send out a special thanks to all who made this weekend possible especially Bob MacDermot, Charlie James Barbara MacDermot, all of the consultants, and the rest of my staff. Also, we had a splendid raffle on Saturday night which would not have been possible if it weren't for Craig Holloway from Patagonia, Bill Sterling from Dana Designs, and Shelly Dunbar from Petzl. Thank you to all who helped out and joined us this year for the Rendezvous. Keep your calendars marked for October 21-23, 2005 for an experience to remember with fellow Venturers from around the county.

Rendezvous Chairman
