Venturing Youth Support Wood Badge
September 11th and 12th 2004, history was made in Desert Pacific Council. Wood Badge, WE4-49-04, was the first to include a Venture Crew as part of the course. Nine Venture Crew members from our council formed to become the first Crew 1 on the hill. They demonstrated their Leave No Trace camping skills to the course participants and were assigned to patrols to join them in fellowship, meals, games and skits. The Crew ran the adventure trail with troop guides standing by as mentors.
Crew 1 did an exceptional job with Crew president, Peter Godoy, Crew 1203, Vice President, Kenny Bostwick, Crew 1212, Quartermaster, Ben Pfeiffer, Crew 1194, Historian, Mykka Mac Dermot, Crew 942, Chester Owen, 959, Kristina James, 1013, Ryan Erfert, 2402, Steven Swanson, 1142 and Amanda Burton of 2402 had her chance to be an Eagle while working with that patrol. Barbara Mac Dermot and Steven "Murphy" Murphy served as Associate Advisors and Bob Mac Dermot served as the Assistant Scoutmaster to Venturing.
These Venture Crew members served our council well and set a standard for future that we can all be proud of. Crew 1 would like to thank all of the patrols that made their participation a fond lasting memory. We have all been part of a historical event that all of in Desert Pacific Council can be proud of. Don't forget to work those tickets!
